If you want I can invite you on the wave :) let me know your gmail id and I'd get you onto the wave.

Even I am looking for people who are using it to a large extent.

- MandarMandar Beherehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11579124519129547641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11523536.post-9086941209539797382010-01-11T19:50:59.981-05:002010-01-11T19:50:59.981-05:00Some day in the future, Google Wave (or the techno...Some day in the future, Google Wave (or the technologies/protocols upon which it is built) might be able to do this, but it’s not there yet. Collaborative editing, yes, but not the type of workflow you’re describing.

You haven’t given a lot of details, but there are probably a number of options for what you want to do. I’m pretty sure you should be able to do those types of things with any document repository type of system, such as Sharepoint—which is very popular these days with the corporate crowd—or Joomla, or one of the IBM Lotus applications. Google Docs might also be able to do what you want to do.

You could also look into doing it with a wiki, if it doesn’t specifically have to be “documents.” There are lots of open source wiki platforms out there, one of them might be able to do this kind of workflow.

Another option might be to go the blog route; for example, WordPress might be able to do what you’re looking to do.

You probably have a lot of research ahead of you, along with refining your requirements, before you settle on a product/platform.David Hunterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08992882297558499646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11523536.post-10639885377850332602010-01-11T18:49:48.074-05:002010-01-11T18:49:48.074-05:00I'm look for an app where multiple people coul...I'm look for an app where multiple people could submit separate private documents and be able to edit their own document until a certain time, at which point the documents are locked and then could be viewed by all. Any thoughts/suggestions?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11523536.post-24350376533591433012010-01-10T18:09:22.573-05:002010-01-10T18:09:22.573-05:00I’m pretty sure the comment above is spam, since t...I’m pretty sure the comment above is spam, since the “person’s” name links to the ShowDocument site, but I’ll respond to it anyway. Who knows? Maybe “Laura” is a real person, who’s following this blog diligently…

ShowDocument is a service for web-based meetings and document collaboration, which, while useful—again, something I do every day at work, using tools like NetMeeting or Live Meeting or WebEx—is not comparable to what Google Wave does. It’s yet a further incremental improvement on collaborative document creation, and may very well be a great service (the site has the word “free” plastered everywhere, so I’m not sure if there’s a catch), it’s not a game-changer, like Google Wave could be.

I love my Live Meeting account, for having meetings with others, but I don’t use Live Meeting for a quick message, I use Windows Live Messenger for that. I use Messenger all day every day, but I don’t use it for sending an email, I use Outlook for that. With Google Wave, or similar tools using the same concepts, there could be a day when I don’t use any of those tools, I just use my Wave account, and do it all. That’s different. A day when we don’t use email is very, very different.David Hunterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08992882297558499646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11523536.post-34152373429658909062010-01-10T07:19:27.028-05:002010-01-10T07:19:27.028-05:00Its a good tool, but there are other options - per...Its a good tool, but there are other options - personally I use http://www.showdocument.com since it needs no installation.
really easy for sharing your designs, documents, ideas and collaborating online.
Just saying you should know all your options. - Laura W.laurahttp://www.showdocument.comnoreply@blogger.com
